On 12 May in Brussels, Monica Frassoni, President of EU-ASE, took part in the High-Level Stakeholders Roundtable on the EU ETS Reform.
In her contribution, she highlighted the importance of aligning ETS reform with Europe’s broader energy, climate, and industrial strategy, stressing that energy efficiency and policy coherence are essential to a successful transition. She called for stronger control over ETS revenues, a reassessment of free allowances, and clearer energy efficiency criteria in EU funding instruments.
She also underlined that the Energy Efficiency Directive must remain ambitious beyond 2030, and that SMEs need better access to dedicated financing tools to support their role in the transition.
