EU-ASE at high-level debate on the Renovation Wave and role of EU regions

On 21 October EU-ASE president Monica Frassoni participated in a high level online debate on the Renovation Wave and the role of EU regions in its implementation in the framework of the 18th European Week of Regions and Cities.

In her intervention, president Frassoni discussed the need to focus on the quality of renovation interventions, access to finance and public buildings to make the Renovation Wave a success.

Speakers included EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira, and MEP Ciaran Cuffe.

EU-ASE at C4E Webinar with EU Commissioner Kadri Simson

On 16 October EU-ASE president Monica Frassoni moderated the panel discussion of the C4E Webinar on “Making the the Renovation Wave work!”.

Speakers included EU Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, official representatives responsible for energy from Croatia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic and a member of the European Parliament from Romania.

EU-ASE at Foresight 2020 – Digital Summit (Italy)

On 15 October EU-ASE president Monica Frassoni was among the speakers of FORESIGHT 2020, the annual conference hosted by Lombardini22, leading Milan-based design and architecture firm.

During the event, president Frassoni addressed a wide audience mainly composed of real estate professionals, designers, urbanists and architects, on the key current sustainability and climate challenges for Italy and Europe, with a focus on buildings renovation.

EU-ASE at Conferenza nazionale sul clima 2020 (Italy)

On 13 October EU-ASE president Monica Frassoni participated in the institutional session of the Conferenza nazionale sul clima 2020 – Una roadmap climatica per l’Italia, hosted by Italy For Climate.

During this high-level online conference, starting from the proposal of an Italian Roadmap for Climate elaborated by Italy for Climate, panelists discussed the contribution of the different economic sectors and the measures needed to align Italy’s recovery plan with the goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

Speakers included European Commission Director General of DG Climate Mauro Petriccione, Italian Minister of Environment Sergio Costa, Minister of Regional Affairs and Autonomies Francesco Boccia and Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council Riccardo Fraccaro.

In her intervention, Monica Frassoni discussed the benefits of energy efficiency for Italian’s recovery and the necessary steps at European and national level to foster energy efficiency as a key element to achieve climate neutrality.

EU-ASE at Climate Week NYC 2020: A Solution Set for Complex Challenges

On 23 September EU-ASE president Monica Frassoni participated in this Climate Week NYC webinar, hosted by the EE Global Alliance and the Business Council for Sustainable Energy.

During the event, leaders from the private, public, and non-profit sectors explored how clean energy and energy efficiency technologies and expertise can help meet the trio of challenges posed by COVID-19, economic recovery and climate change. Strategic deployment of this “solution set” will deliver significant gains in emissions reductions, improved community resilience, human health and safety, and the creation of new jobs and a more sustainable economy.

Attendees heard key takeaways from the special Economic Recovery edition of the EE Magazine, published by AOB Group and the EE Global Alliance, launched the same day of the event.

  • During the first session, the authors, including Monica Frassoni, discussed the key takeaways from their articles, focusing on energy efficiency’s role in economic recovery across the globe.
  • During the second session, clean energy executives discussed how to tackle these challenges vis-à-vis the deployment of clean energy solutions, smart public policy and project design, and strategic deployment of procurement, finance, and technologies.
